Texas Lottery: Lotto
Texas and Mega Millions
Every time you buy a Texas Lottery ticket, you are contributing to the
Foundation School Fund, which helps pay for public education in Texas!
The Texas Lottery has contributed more than $6 billion to the Foundation
School Fund! The Texas Education Agency administers the Fund, which is
used for school districts' public education services at the local level.
That $6 billion is the biggest part of the more than $11 billion in revenue
the Texas Lottery has generated for Texas since the first lottery ticket
was sold in May 1992. Lottery revenues have gone to the Foundation School
Fund since September 1, 1997, as directed by the State Legislature.
You select 5 numbers from 44 and another number (the Bonus Ball) from
a separate pool of 44. All six numbers are required to win first prize.
There are 8 levels of prizes.
