Iowa Lottery: The Iowa Cash Game, Hot Lotto and Powerball

During fiscal year 2003 the Iowa Lottery built for the future by introducing new products to continue providing entertainment for our players and at the same time ensure a steady flow of income to the state of Iowa to build its financial strength.

During the last fiscal year, state governments all over the country continued to struggle with budget deficits, and Iowa was no different. Fortunately, the Iowa Lottery was able to send almost $48 million to the state General Fund to benefit Iowa programs.

For the Iowa Cash Game, select 5 balls from 35. There are 4 prize levels:

1. 5 balls
2. 4 balls
3. 3 balls
4. 2 balls

For multi-state Hot Lotto, select 5 numbers from 39 and another number (the Hot Ball) from a separate pool of 19. All 6 numbers are required to win first prize. There are 9 levels of prizes:

1. 5 main balls + hot ball
2. 5 main balls
3. 4 main balls + hot ball
4. 4 main balls
5. 3 main balls + hot ball
6. 3 main balls
7. 2 main balls + hot ball
8. 1 main ball + hot ball
9. hot ball only

For multi-state Powerball, select 5 numbers from 53 and another number (the Powerball) from a separate pool of 42. All 6 numbers are required to win first prize. There are 9 levels of prizes:

1. 5 main balls + powerball
2. 5 main balls
3. 4 main balls + powerball
4. 4 main balls
5. 3 main balls + powerball
6. 3 main balls
7. 2 main balls + powerball
8. 1 main ball + powerball
9. power ball only
